Small Group Leader

Worship Leader

Ministry Purpose
Your role is to provide safe, secure, nurturing, clean and efficient care to our elementary age children. Your ministry responsibilities include playing with the children, leading small group activities, and praying for each child, exhibiting Christ-like patience and love, and relating the events of the day to the lesson and theme in words the child can understand.

Requirements
- We ask that you serve 1-4 times per month and attend church

  during the opposite service.
- For the safety of all children, complete and pass a volunteer

background check (we only check for sexually related crimes).
- Different positions require different amounts of experience

depending on the area in which you want to serve; however, we

would be happy to help train people who are interesting in serving.

Team Leader

The overall leader / director during an hour of kids

church.  This person should be able to lead other volunteers, teach

Scripture, and lead activities.

Tech

These people help run computers and sound equipment

for the kids service (we will provide training).

Small Group Leader

Help lead small groups (usually about 20

minutes long) that help reinforce the day's Scripture / topic.  This

may involve talking about the Bible or helping lead crafts.

Worship Leader

Helps lead music once or twice a month either through the use of

dvd's or by playing an instrument.

Service Expectations
- Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled service time to check in and

  receive your volunteer badge.
- Pray! Pray! Pray! Pray individually for the children as they play, as

they listen to the lesson and for the other volunteers as you work

  together.
- Oversee the sign-out process. Parents will need their own sticker to

claim their child. If they don’t have it, they will have to wait in the

lobby for the Security Ministry Volunteer before the child is

  released.
- Clean and straighten the room after the children leave.
- Report concerns or ideas for improvement to the Ministry Team

  Leader for that room.
- Attend occasional Team meetings.
- If you will be unable to serve your assigned shift, please give ample

  notice to your Team Leader.

Interacting with parents
- Always thank the parent for bringing their child. It is our privilege

to serve and minister to them.
- Always tell the parents about what their children learned about that

  day.
- Always tell the parents about any events (games, activities,

  memorable moments with the child).
- Always follow dismissal plan (even if you are very familiar with

  the parents).
- Always smile, (even if you are tired.)

Teaching Young Ones
- A child’s heart is so open, inquisitive and moldable during their

elementary years, so we want to use this time to teach them about

God’s love and God’s word in a creative, interactive and practical

  way.
- We’ll provide the basic curriculum, you bring a loving heart and an

  energetic spirit.
- Look for opportunities to talk with the children about the lesson as

it corresponds to their lives. If the children are struggling with

taking turns, and the lesson is about kindness, take time to make the

  connection for the kids.
- It is important to be able to express excitement, energy and love for

God’s word during small group and large group activities. We want

children to recognize God’s word as truth, not as just a story.
- You are a model for the kids wherever they see you – at the ball

field, at the grocery store, and at the movies. Be aware that little

eyes will be watching for your Godly character wherever you go,

and be ready to embrace their presence gladly when you see them

  in unexpected places around town.
- Encourage children to REACH OUT to their peers by being a

good friend, praying for them, and inviting them to church.
