Ministry Assistant
Position Summary & Objective
The Ministry Assistant supports the mission and ministries of Twenty Four Church by overseeing the daily administrative operations of the church office and providing organizational, communication, and logistical support to the pastoral staff and congregation. This position is administrative in nature, but is first and foremost a ministry position. The person filling this role will help 24 Church fulfill its vision of being a gospel-centered family on mission for the fame of Jesus and the good of our neighbors.
The ministry assistant helps with administrative coordination, communication, scheduling, and record keeping while helping maintain a welcoming and organized church environment. The Ministry Assistant also assists the staff with communication efforts, including church-wide emails and social media scheduling.
This role contributes to the ministry of the church by helping connect people with pastoral care and supporting the operational needs of the church staff.
This is a full-time position.
Office Hours:
Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Sunday, 8:30 AM – 12:45 PM
Additional Clarifications:
30 minute lunch break (whenever desired)
The ebb and flow of the office is fairly flexible.
Additional hours may occasionally be required during major church events or ministry needs.
Reporting Structure
The Ministry Assistant reports directly to the Associate Pastor and works collaboratively with the Lead Pastor and other pastoral staff to support the ministries of the church.

Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Administrative Skills
Minimum two years of clerical or administrative experience
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Ability to maintain administrative and organizational systems
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Friendly, hospitable, and service-oriented demeanor
Ability to interact professionally with church members, visitors, and ministry partners
Punctual in responding to email and social media inquiries
Technical Skills
Proficiency with Apple computers
Familiarity with common office machines and technology
Typing skills (minimum 40 WPM)
Experience with church management software preferred (we use Planning Center)
Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram and ability to schedule content
Personal Qualities
Flexibility and adaptability
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
Strong organizational mindset with attention to systems and processes
Essential Duties & Expectations
1. Administration
Manage the daily operations of the church office under the direction of the Associate Pastor.
Serve as church receptionist: greet visitors, answer phone calls, take messages, and assist ministry staff with scheduling appointments.
Manage Planning Center activities including
Adding contacts
Updating and maintaining records
Training staff or volunteers on usage when needed
Updating registration information as needed
Maintain and update church mailing lists.
Evaluate administrative systems and procedures and recommend improvements when needed.
Maintain and update the church calendar, assisting staff with scheduling events and facility use.
Prepare and distribute the weekly church email/newsletter and coordinate related communication through social media.
Attend weekly staff meetings, record minutes, and distribute them in a timely manner.
Maintain organized filing systems for important church documents.
Answer or distribute general church emails and social media correspondence.
Check the church P.O. Box twice weekly and distribute mail appropriately.
Manage and distribute building keys according to church key protocols.
Assist with compiling ministry data and reports as requested.
Develop and maintain inventory systems for church equipment and supplies.
Prepare outgoing mail, including periodic mailings such as giving campaign communications.
Order office supplies and monitor inventory levels.
Produce mailing labels and reports as requested.
Assist with registration and coordination for special church events when needed.
2. Communication & Media
Assist pastoral staff in scheduling and publishing church communication through email and social media.
Monitor social media platforms for comments and messages and respond appropriately or direct inquiries to pastoral staff when necessary.
To clarify, social media content doesn’t need to be created, but it will need to be scheduled weekly in coordination with the overall communications team
3. Ministry Support
Provide a welcoming presence for individuals who visit the church seeking assistance.
Pray with individuals when appropriate and refer benevolence or pastoral care needs to pastoral staff.
Assist pastors in identifying ministry needs within the church, including awareness of situations such as illness, births, deaths, or other pastoral care needs.
Pray regularly for the children, families, volunteers, and staff of Twenty Four Church.
Confidentiality
This position requires maintaining strict confidentiality regarding pastoral matters, member information, financial records, and sensitive ministry situations.
General Expectations
The Ministry Assistant should demonstrate a spirit of humility, service, and teamwork while helping support the ministries and mission of Twenty Four Church.
This role plays an important part in ensuring that the administrative and communication needs of the church operate smoothly so that pastors and ministry leaders can focus on shepherding and discipleship.
